Richard F. Heavins, Dies at Age 76:
Richard Franklin Heavins, 76, a retired farmer and dairyman who resided at 227 G street northeast, died about noon Thursday at the Clinton, Okla., sanitarium. Mr. Heavins at one time operated a dairy south of Baxter Springs. He was a member of the Miami First Christian church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Heavins of the home; two sons, Elva Heavins of Baxter Springs and Weldon Heavins of Mulvane, Kas.; a stepson, Glenn Pike, Tulsa; a step-daughter, Mrs. Willis Ball, Wichita; a brother Willard Heavins, Baxter Springs; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hutchins' Miami Funeral home chapel. The Rev. Carl Garrett of Quapaw will officiate. Burial will be in GAR cemetery.
