Wilbert worked for 21 years at Federal Electric Corporation/International Telephone Telegraph at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Then he worked for 14 years for Rocketdyne in Los Angeles. He moved to Lompoc, California, in 1966.

After moving to Lompoc, he served as president of the United Way board, and he was active with Knights of Columbus.

In the last years of his life, Wilbert walked the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery in Lompoc, California, recording names and dates from grave stones and providing the information to genealogists and researchers. It was at that cemetery where his mortal remains were laid to rest.

He was the son of Thomas Bishop HUFFORD and Addie May ARKILLS, and the brother of Gerald E. (b. 1910); Enid Winston (1911-1992); Chrystal Everyn (1913-2003, m. Mr. FELIX); Thoma Beryl (1914-1989, m. Mr. LIVINGSTON); and Adriel B. (1916-1979). His mother died before he was four months old; he was raised by his mother's brother Francis ARKILLS and Francis' wife Maude.

Wilbert first married Elizabeth Bertina LARSON. With Elizabeth, he had one son. Elizabeth died in 1972. In 1979, Wilbert secondly married Mrs. Emily Delores (Silva) ALVES, widow of Mr. Victor ALVES.

Wilbert was the grandson of Solomon HUFFORD and Eliza GARRISON.
