VERNON, Ala. Lula Stockman Pennington, 82, of Vernon, died Friday,May 9, 2003. She was born Dec. 8, 1920, in Lamar County, Ala., to the late Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Highness Stockman. She was married to the late Sir Clinton Pennington. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church inVernon with Bro. James Walden and Bro. Doug Whorton officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Otts Funeral Home ofSulligent is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Clifton Pennington and his wife, Adine, of Millport, Ala., and Russell Clinton Pennington of Vernon,Ala.; four daughters, Sarah E. Barnes and Peggy A. Slone and her husband, Larry, all of Vernon, Ala., Joyce Ellison and her husband, Mike, of Belk, Ala., and Mitzi Delibro and her husband, Delibro, of Mobile, Ala.; one brother, Wesley Hunter Stockman of McAllister,Texas; two sisters, Vena Atkins of Caledonia and Christine Wilson of McAllen, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sir Clinton Pennington; and her parents, Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Higgins Stockman.
Pallbearers will be Brian Pennington, Shannon Gilliam, Tim Barnes,Kirk Estes, Dennis Gilliam and Scott Robertson.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
