Union, SC - Giles Perry Kirby died on Thursday, Jan. 23, 1992 in Oakmont Nursing Home. Native of Union, SC and husband of Flossie Johns Kirby. Son of the late Javan Bryant and Rebecca "Sissy" Burgess Kirby and member, Deacon and trustee of the Morningside Baptist Church, where he had served as chairman of the Benevolence Committee. Talented musician, played stringed instruments in local bands. He was a member of Company E. of the South Carolina National Guard, and was retired from Milliken & Company, Monarch Plant. Survivors included: two daughters; one son; one sister, Mrs. Deborah Nichols, of Columbia, SC; one brother, L. Kirby, of Columbia, SC; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was 85 years of age at demise and interment was in the Pacolet First Baptist Church Cemetery.
