Orvil Everett Butcher, son of Thomas and Dora BUTCHER, was born near Davis City, Iowa on July 12, 1889, and departed this life August 29, 1954 at the Decatur County hospital at the age of 65 years, 1 month and 17 days.

He was united in marriage to Beulah WHEELER in 1910. To this union were born 3 children, Lionel and Opal both of Kansas City, Missouri. One child having preceded him in death, also his father and mother. Brother Roy BUTCHER having passed away in May 15 of this year at Omaha, Nebraska.

On February of 1935 he was united in marriage to Myrle CREVELING. His life was, spent, in farming and his early life was lived around Davis City He enjoyed good clean sports very much, especially baseball.

When a young man Orvil became a Christian and in the last Year he renewed in Spirit, by the help and prayers of his many Christian friends.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Myrle and son Lionel and one daughter Opal; one step son Burton of Kansas City, Mo., one grandson Jonnie, one brother and two sisters, Mrs. James BUTCHER of Leon, Iowa, Mrs. Pearl ORFIELD of Davis City, Iowa and Mrs. Louisa CARGALL of Gordon, Nebraska. Also many uncles aunts, nieces, nephew, and a host of friends, He loved little children and was loved by them He had one little neighbor boy he admired who will miss Orvil very much. He was a good friend and neighbor to all, he always would lend a helping hand where and when ever needed. He will be missed by all who knew him

Services were held from the Stewart Funeral Home, Leon, Iowa, Wednesday September 1, 1954, at 2:00 o'clock p. m. conducted by Geo. R. LAMB, pastor of the Assembly of God Church. Soloist, Flosse GILLHAM, accompanist, Mrs. Hazel HINES. Interment being made in the Leon cemetery [penciled in: Davis City]
