Lee graduated High School from City College and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in History from UMBC. He served in the Navy from 1957-1961. He was a Sergeant with the Howard County Police Department where he served for 24 years and retired November 1, 1996. His most recent employment was with the Maryland Police & Correctional Training Commissions where his tenure began as the Program Director for Curriculum Development on a grant from the Department of Justice COPS Office. He then moved to the position of Manager for the Commissions' Police Entry-Level Training Program. Next he advanced to the position of Law Enforcement Training Administrator and then for the past five and a half years he served as Deputy Director of the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions.
He enjoyed active outings with his family, especially camping. He was a collector of stamps and model trains. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and thrived on learning. He was very happy to ask Christ to be his savior on February 19, 2009.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters and sons-in-law Julee Ann and Matt Sullivan of Texas and Loretta and Rick Fetters of Cumberland; sons and daughters-in-law Larry and Audra Goldman of North Carolina, Travis and Stacey Goldman of Frederick and Kyle Goldman of Hagerstown; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Sylvie Deller of Paris; sister JoAnn Knox of California; grandchildren Sam Gonzalez of Pennsylvania, Jose Gonzalez of Louisiana, Carina Gonzalez of Texas, Ashly McElvie and her husband Jeff McElvie of Pennsylvania, Nikki Simmons of Maryland, Wesley Simmons of Maryland and Cortney Goldman of North Carolina; 6 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by grandchildren Samantha Gonzalez, Angelina Gonzalez and Joey Goldman; brother-in-law Howard Knox.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1pm at Mt. Airy Bible Church, 16700 Old Frederick Road in Mt. Airy where the family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 1pm. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery in Glenwood.
