CITRUS PIONEER'S FUNERAL ARRANGED
Butler A. Woodford, 81, Organized Two Exchanges
Claremont. Oct. 22.--Funeral services for Butler A. Woodford, 81, who died at his home here yesterday after a long illness, will be conducted at Todd & Reeves Chapel in Pomona at 2 p.m. Friday.
He long had been identified with the citrus industry and served eight years as the first general manager of the California Fruit Growers' Exchange.
First a resident of Upland, he engaged in grading lands and planting orange groves for himself and others. He was instrumental in organizing the Lemon Growers' Exchange of Upland, first association of lemon growers in California. He later organized the Ontario-Cucamonga Fruit Exchange in 1896 and was its first manager.
Mr. Woodford had been a resident of Claremont since 1907.
