MANUEL HARTLEY DIES WEDNESDAY AT 92

ARCADIA- Manuel Hartley, 92, died Wednesday [1 Nov. 1967] at Riverview Hospital where he had been a patient the past nine days.

Born July 3, 1875, in Atlanta [Indiana], he was a son of Gilbert and Isabelle Dunn Hartley. When a boy he moved to east of Cicero where he lived until three years ago when he came to Arcadia.

Married June 17, 1896 to Anna Buscher, the couple observed their 70th wedding anniversary in June 1966. He was a building contractor all his adult life until he retired five years ago.

He was a member of the Arcadia Church of the Brethren and the White River and Tipton Christian Sister and Brotherhoods.

Surviving with his widow are two sons, Clifton Hartley, Arcadia; Earl Hartley, Kokomo; a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Naomi) Nightenhelser, R.1 Cicero; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a [half] brother Oscar Hartley, Kokomo; a sister, the former Flossie Hartley, Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday [4 Nov. 1967] at the Arcadia Church of the Brethren with the pastor Rev. Lee Spitzer officiating. The body will lie in state at the church an hour prior to the funeral. Burial will occur in Arcadia Cemetery.

Friends may call after 7 o'clock this evening at Cusick and Wenger Funeral Home, Cicero.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Brethren by contacting the funeral home.

Funeral services for Manuel Hartley were held Saturday [4 Nov 1967] morning in the Arcadia Church of the Brethren with the pastor Rev. Lee Spitzer in charge.
