Son of Mary Huff & Lowell Hanson II, brother Megan & Lowell III. Moved to Hodgenville, KY from Greenville, MI in 2005.
Matt was a 2008 graduate of LaRue County High School where he was a member of the football team and the Technology Student Association.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald E. Cogswell; an aunt, Christina Cogswell; and a cousin, PFC. Sterling Jones Eades .
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mary (Larry) Huff of Hodgenville; his father and stepmother, Lowell R. (Cynthia) Hanson Jr. of Buffalo; three sisters, two brothers, his grandparents, a niece, & his girlfriend. He is also remembered by several aunts, uncles cousins & friends.
LCpl. Hanson will be flown from Dover Air Force Base, arriving at Fort Knox on Thursday, where the Patriot Guard will escort his body to the funeral home, where visitation will be held on Friday. The funeral is planned for Saturday Feb. 27 at the Larue County High School gymnasium at 2 p.m. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Perkins Family Cemetery in Buffalo, Kentucky.
Sept. 3, 2011 the Greenville Daily News published a front page article titled: Lasting Tribute. Fighting Flacon Military Museum display honors fallen Soldier. It tells of your family donating one of your uniforms to the museum in honor or you.
