Jerome Bowen Blake, 74 of Wilmington passed away Friday, January 22, 2010. He was born in Onslow County, NC, on March 31, 1935, to the late George M. Blake and Nellie Smith Blake. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Guthrie Blake, George Henry Blake, and William B. Blake and two sisters, Janice Yopp and Ineta Piner. Jerome was a proud veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church and was retired from Babcock and Wilcox, and the New Hanover County School Maintenance Dept. He is survived by four children, Jody Blake (Janice), Robin Walker, Tracy Blake and Scott Blake; 5 grandchildren, Jody, Adam, Ashley, Brandi, and Austin; 2 great grandchildren and a special friend, Katie Ussery. One brother, Eustice Blake (Jan), two sisters, Delores O'Connor (T.K.), and Ellen Sayers (Les). Visitation for family and friends will be 1 to 2 pm Tuesday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel with funeral services to follow at 2 PM. Interment will be in Prospect Cemetery.
