Julia and Elias Taylor homesteaded near Redington, NE, about 35 miles north of Sidney, NE where they raised corn on Pumkin Creek. While going to the store in a sleigh Julia got tangeled in the harness and was dragged about three miles. Her legs were nearly torn off her body. She laid for about a month in bed and died after much suffering from blood poisoning. She was a strong woman having worked most of her life as a cook, dress maker, and mid-wife.
