Funeral services for Gilbert Boyd Eversole, 82, of Bay City, were held 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville. Brother Pete Davis officiated with burial in the church cemetery.

Mr. Eversole died Tuesday at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. He was born Oct. 18, 1920 in Skidmore. His parents were Rachel Mae Blackmon and Arthur Eversole. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bay City.

Mr. Eversole was a resident of Bay City for 44 years. He was raised in Damon. He was a veteran of World War II, having achieved the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Haliburton Oilfield Service

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Jim Harrison of Channelview; a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Patty Eversole of Sweeny; a sister, Arthur Mae Dollery of Damon; a brother, James Eversole of Damon; and four grandchildren, Wade and Todd Harrison of Channelview and Catlin and Carly Eversole of Sweeny.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florine Ann Eversole, in 1985, and by his parents.

Arrangments were with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City.
