Loranzo Washington Bryant was born on March 9, 1869, in Monroe County, Kentucky, the only confirmed child of John D. and Nancy (Brown) Bryant, although there are reports that John and Nancy had three additional sons. At the time of Loranzo's birth, John was 25 years old and Nancy was 21 years old.

By the time of the 1880 census, Loranzo and his parents were living in Perry Township, Monroe County, Indiana.

Loranzo married Alice Allgood on 22 May 1889 in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana, where they made their home.

Loranzo and Alice had three children. Their first child, Lucil, was born 19 June 1890. Lucil lived just shy of two years. She passed away 10 June 1892. Loranzo and Alice welcomed another child, John Delmar, on 14 May 1892. John Delmar only lived five months. He passed away on 26 October 1892. Their third child, Paul Lorenzo Bryant, was born on 11 May 1894. He died on 15 January 1941.

Ten years after the death of his first wife, Loranzo married again. Isabelle Daisy Waldon became his bride on 20 June 1899. Their marriage took place in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana, where they made their home.

Together they had five children. Alva was born in March of 1900 and passed away four months later in July 1900. Frank was born on 14 April 1903 and passed away on 16 August 1988. Floyd was born on 10 October 1914 and passed away on 14 November 1974. Wilma was born on 31 October 1917 and passed away in April 1930. Wayne was born on 6 March 1921 and passed away on 18 February 1989.

For most of his life, Loranzo worked at the various stone quarries in the area.

Loranzo and Daisy maintained their home in Monroe County, Indiana, until their deaths. Loranzo passed away on 29 August 1956 and Daisy died just shy of a year later on 20 July 1957. They are buried together at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, Indiana.

Loranzo Bryant Dies At Home After Illness


Loranzo W. Bryant, 87 died Wednesday at his residence, 1014 W. 14th St. He had been bedfast since December.

He was a native of Metcalfe county, Kentucky, and had spent most of his life in Monroe county. He was a retired stone mason and a member of the 11th Street Pentecostal church.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy Bryant, three sons, Frank Bryant, Route 7; Floyd Bryant, 1018 W. 14th St., and Wayne Bryant, 1010 W. 14th Street; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at the 11th Street Pentecostal church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, with burial in Rose Hill cemetery. Rev. Orville Frame will officiate.

The body has been removed from the Day Funeral Home, to the home of a son, Wayne Bryant, 1010 W. 14th St., to remain there until time for the funeral. The body may be viewed there after 7 p.m. today.
