Son of the late Woodrow and Nora Gainey King, he was a fleet car manager for Associated Brokers, Inc., in Raleigh, NC. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley King McPhail. He was survived by his wife, Judy Springs King; a son, Durwood Mitchell King; a daughter, Judy Michelle King; a brother, Ernest Millard King; two sisters, Rachael King Dorman and Jane King Chouquette; a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Sciechitano; a great-grandchild; and an extended family or relatives. His funeral was held July 27, 2007, with The Rev. Wayne Goff, The Rev. W.H. Calcutt and The Troy Tyndall.
