Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan --father Albert A. Black, mother Ruth Ann Dewlaney Black. Birth name was Ralph Black.
Attended private military school as youth, two years of college before being in Army Sept 1942 as selectee Warrant Officer.
Changed his name legally after the WW11 period to stepfather's==Allen Damion Lewis.


Allen was born Ralph Dewlaney Black in Augusta, Michigan. 1921. Mother was Ruth Ann Dewlaney, oldest daughter of Adelmer and Louise Dewlaney of California.His father was Albert A. Black. Ruth Ann is in the 1920 census back in Kalamazoe, Augusta, Michigan with husband Albert living with father-in-law Frederick Black.

When "Ralph" Allen was 12 years old. he was injured by a BB gun and lost the sight in one eye in San Diego area.

By 1930's Ruth Ann owns a beauti shop living in San Diego, California. She married Ira H. Lewis 1936 in San Diego. Allen or "Ralph" lives with his mother and stepfather ending up in Sacramento, California. After two years of college , he enlists in the Army, Sept 29, 1942 as a enlisted officer, His name there is still Ralph Black. He is 65 in. tall- weight 142lbs.

After military time. he changed his name legally to Allen Damion Lewis. His cousin remembers that he worked for the State of California. Ruth Ann's side of the family has no memory of him ever being married.

His mother and stepfather were California State officers in Eastern Star.

Allen D. Lewis died 1983 a year before his mother and stepfather. All three are buried in the Mausoleum at Elk Grove East Lawn Cemetery near Sacramento, California
