On 24 December 1874, in her parents' home in Napoleon, Ohio, she married Leander Adams Bigger. They then located in Leander's home, at 305 East Sherman Avenue, in Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas.
In 1876, they had they first child, a girl whom they named Diadamie, after her maternal grandmother.
In 1878, they had their second child, Mary Elizabeth.
In December 1895, Mary had a stroke that left her partially paralyzed. She was cared for in her home.
On 07 May 1896, Mary suffered a second stroke and died. Her funeral was held near her home, in Hutchinson's First Presbyterian Church, and then her remains were transported to the Eastside Cemetery for burial.
