Robert Hayes Braden Sr., 89, of Knoxville, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville.
Mr. Braden was a retired coal miner and had worked for Windrock Mining Co.
He was the last surviving child of 12 children born to Hiram and Melinda Vann Braden, who are deceased.
Mr. Braden was a former resident of Oliver Springs and a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marlene Carter Braden; his daughter, Odessa Clark of Knoxville; and three sons, Dwight Braden of Kingston, Bob Braden and his wife, Gail, of Clinton, and Steve Braden and his wife, Melanie, of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Braden is also survived by his grandchildren, Erik and Darin Clark, Wendy Braden, and Jessica and Jared Braden; his brother-in-law, Tommy Carter of Oliver Springs; three sisters-in-law, Ella Mae Hughes, Josephine Morgan and Betty Flanagan, all of Oliver Springs; and by several cousins, nieces and nephews.Another son, R.C. Braden, and a grandson, Robby Braden, died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. C.H. Harvey officiating.A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
