Delbert, 76, of Six Lakes, formerly of Lansing, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday evening, surrounded by the love of his life, Barbara, and his children and grandchildren. He fought a courageous battle with multiple myloma cancer.
He was one of 12 children born to Logan Edward Hannahs and Alta Mae (Bliesener) Hannahs. He married Barbara Allen on 4-13-1952, and they were blessed with 4 sons, 20 grand children, and 10 great grandchildren. Family was very important to Del. He was a retired electrician. He founded B&D electric in 1963 and trained his 4 sons and 4 of his grandsons to be electricians. He was past president of Central Michigan Electrical Association. He sponsored many bowling teams and he was on many bowling leagues up until an illness in 1991 took away his ability to enjoy the game. He was well-known for his beautiful vegetable garden, which he shared with everyone. He was an avid fisherman, as everyone who knows him well heard the stories and enjoyed the generosity of his fishing skills. He always enjoyed "winning" at cards...he had excellent partner communication skills :o)
He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grand father, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to anyone he met. He enjoyed life and living it to the fullest with everyone around him.
He leaves behind his loving, devoted wife of 58 years. Barbara; 4 sons David (Rita) of Lansing, Steve (Toni) of Potterville, Mike (Amy) of Ovid, and Scott (Charlene) of Potterville, 20 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one sister, 3 brothers, 6 sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins, his special Lake Montcalm neighbors and many other friends.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 4 sisters and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Hannahs.
A memorial service in Delbert's honor was held at Mount Hope Church on 2-24-2010. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
