Kim was born in Reno but grew up in Portland and graduated from Marshall High School in 1979. She continued her education and became a CNA and worked in assisted living and nursing homes in Hood River.
In her childhood she enjoyed spending time with her best friends, Sherri and Nancy, who were also by her side when she passed.
On Sept. 6, 2008, Kim married Don Collins at Tollbridge Park in Mount Hood, Ore. Although their time together was too short they enjoyed each other's company and enjoyed their trips to the beach, camping and spending time with their grandchildren.
Kim is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband, Don Collins, of Hood River; three children, Gene Austin and his wife, Keala, of Marysville, Wash., Brandon Austin, of Vancouver, Wash., and Harley Parkki and her husband, Will, of Hood River; grandchildren Sean, Carter, Austin and Riley; two sisters, Kerri Hammond, of Portland, Ore., and Kandy Blanc and her husband, Greg, of Pendleton, Ore.; and other distant family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
