P. Eagan, parents. Born June 20, 1920. Enlisted
January 1, 1937. Served as Keeper of Hospital Records, Corregidor Island. For twenty-three months he was a Japanese prisoner of war, from April 1942, to May 1944. Died May 14, 1944, in Japanese Cantonment Camp, Muskin, China, as reported by the RED CROSS.

Another source says he died as a POW of the Japanese at Hoten POW Camp (Mukden) Manchuria 42-123. Michael was last reported alive in January 1943 and I believe that is where the confusion begins as to his date of death.

MILITARY SERVICES TOMORROW AT NATIONAL CEMETERY FOR SOLDIER KILLED OVERSEAS
Military services will be conducted at the National cemetery tomorrow for Michael W. Eagan, first soldier killed overseas to be returned for burial here.

The body will arrive by train at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow and will be met by an honor guard composed of members of all service organizations and the National Guard. The body will be escorted to the Nelson-Savage Funeral Home, and an honor guard will remain with the body until the funeral, which will be at 2 p.m. The National Guard will have a firing squad at the funeral and the V.F.W. will be in charge of the service.

His father, Patrick W. Eagan, of West Tulsa, Okla., and other relatives will attend both services. (Article amended to include mention of this soldier only)
