Michael L. Whiteford, 63, of Glen Rock, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at York Hospital. He was the long time companion and best friend of Donna M. Wise of York.

Born September 20, 1946, in York, a son of the late Michael Whiteford, Sr. and the late Jeanne L. (Nuttle) Whiteford.

He was a 1965 graduate of Dallastown Area High School. Mr. Whiteford worked as a stationary engineer for Maryland House of Corrections and prior to that for Springfield Hospital Center and York Hospital. Mr. Whiteford was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served on the U.S.S. Independence during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Glen Rock VFW and enjoyed fishing.

In addition to his companion, Mr. Whiteford is survived by his cousins, Paul, Scott, Bill, Richard, Steve, Kay, and Pat. He was preceded in death by an infant son.

Private burial will be in Windsor Cemetery.
