HOBSON, Arthur Franklin age 86 of Englewood, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2010. He retired from Northmont Schools where he served as the principal at Union Elementary School for 17 years. As an educator, he completed nearly 40 years in public education in South Williamson, Kentucky and at Posttown Elementary School in the Middletown Madison School District. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Vandalia, and a veteran of WW II having proudly served in the US Navy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years: Opal (King) Hobson, sons and daughters-in-law: Chris and Sandra Hobson of Kennesaw, GA, and Steve & Patricia Hobson of Englewood, sister and brother-in-law: Cleda & Robert Hall of Pikeville, KY, granddaughter and husband: Amber Michelle & Ricky Davis of Acworth, GA, grandson: Christopher Franklin Hobson and his fiancee: Sarah Thomson and her daughter Haley of Gulfport, FL, a niece, nephew, other family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Franklin B. & Beatrice (Ratliff) Hobson, sister: Ethel Wheeler, and a brother: Hubert Hobson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, at the First Baptist Church (615 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia) with Rev. David Starry officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood). Entombment will follow the service at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
