My Great-Grandfather worked for the Railroad, and was killed (so very sad) by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad while at work. Research is ongoing as to where and how this happened. He was only 37 years old.
There is no grave marker, but he is buried in this cemetery.
Edwards father was Joseph Cephas Buckley, mother Zuba (Azubah) Ann Mills, daughter of Jabez C. Mills and Martha "Giddy" Giddon. Joseph Cephas Buckley and Zuba Ann Mills had four children, James B (Later named James Brace with no middle initial, although I believe him to have been a Buckley) Elizabeth (Fisk), Gertrude J. (Fischer) and Edward Leander Buckley. (~James Brace , DOB 1864 born in NY, was living in Tyrone, Schuyler County, New York with the Elwood family in the 1880 census)
Elizabeth (Fisk), Gertrude J. (Fischer)were raised in the Davenport home for girls.
Edward Leander (my great-grandfather)was living with the Ansil Carpenter family in 1880 during the census in Tyrone, NY, Schuyler county. He was listed as 8 years old at this time. My grandmother told her oldest daughter that he was taken into a family named Carpenter after his own mother (Zuba Mills Buckley) "deserted" the three children and her firstborn, James Brace. According to records, Zuba married James McQuiggin and had another son named Arthur in 1875. James and Zuba were divorced and living apart during the 1880 census.
According to records, Joseph Cephas Buckley (Spelled in a couple of the census' as Bulkley) married a second wife (she was 17, he was 28), Emma Kinney and had 6 more children; Ray, Joe, Charles, Lee, Sarah and Lydia.
Research is pending on all information.
