Dorthy Mae Benziger went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 20, 2010 in Turlock, California. She was born August 18, 1940 in Keota, Oklahoma, but came to California as a child. She lived in the Merced area most of her life and has resided in Delhi for the past 45 years, where she worked as a cashier at two local convenience stores. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and genealogy. Dorthy was a devout Christian. She was a member of Oak Road Free Pentecostal Church of God in Delhi. She devoted her life to God and her family. Dorthy married her husband, Leonard Benziger, who survives her, on October 7, 1960. She is also survived by two sons, four daughters, a brother, and two sisters. She also leaves behind six grandsons and five granddaughters who will miss their grandmother tremendously. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Jimmy Benziger, and her parents; Herbert and Ola Yates Scoggins. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Winton District Cemetery.
