Benjamin Cilley was the third of eleven children of Dorcas Butler Cilley and her husband Major Jonathan Cilley [p15, The Cilley Genealogy by J.P. Cilley of Rockland, __, a slim book]. This source also tells us that he married Martha McCormick. I just noticed that the printed date in this source gives Benjamin's birthdate as 7 Jan 1789, where it also has his sister, Sarah Cilley Andrews born in Jan 1789 (Sarah's day of birth has a handwritten notation with a 6 carefully sketched in, so 6 Jan, whereas the typset entry for Benjamin tells us 7 Jan 1789, one day later but same year; it is not set forth in the book that they were twins, as like children number 10 and 11 so...??). On pg. 36, family #207, the author tells us that Benjamin was born in Nottingham and moved to Ohio with his father. He was a farmer, married with five named children [p36].

The 5 children: Selina Dorcas, Elizabeth M., Joseph, Martha Ann, Cecilia. The lovely tombstone picture posted gives his inscribed age at death as sixty two years old. Please link the children to this findagrave entry.

I notice online a NSDAR 1896 lineage book showing DAR membership for Mrs Cecelia Cilley Taylor, wife of Wm. H.H. Taylor; she proved to the DAR that she was born in Ohio, the daughter of Colonel Benjamin Cilley and Martha, his wife, and the granddaughter of Dorcas Butler Cilley. There is also a woman by this name (1838/1927), to be a daughter of one Joseph Cilley, buried at Spring Grove, 99-151, wife of R.K. Taylor. These may be clues.

Elsewhere it is written that Benjamin Cilley "was a farmer in Whitewater township."
