Mr and Mrs Elon Murray of Norfolk have received word from the War Department that their son, Pfc Francis James Murray, missing in action since April 30, 1945, has been officially declared dead.

He was inducted into the armed forces on Nov 9, 1943. He trained at Ft Knox, Ky, until the following spring when he was transferred to Camp Bowie, Tex. In January 1945 he was sent overseas where he saw active duty with Co A, 16th Armored Infantry, 13th Division of the 3rd Army.

He was born in Waddington June 30, 1925 and attended schools in Waddington and Norfolk.

Surviving besides his parents is a brother, Dan of Norfolk.

A memorial service will be held for Pfc Murray on Sunday, May 26th in the Norfolk Methodist Church.
