* 1987 Obituary - Daily Progress - Charlottesville, Virginia - July 21, 1987 - Kyger Layton Maupin, 66, of Charlottesville, died July 20, 1987, at his home. He was born March 18, 1921, in Albemarle County, son of the late Clifton Miller Maupin and Mary Elizabeth Ward Maupin. Surviving, are his wife, Leone Barnette Maupin; a daughter, Diane and son-in-law, Dale Richardson, both of Charlottesville; a son, Keith Layton Maupin, of Charlottesville; foster daughter, Nancy Estes Buttner of Knoxville, Tennessee; `two granddaughters, Erin and Tiffany Richardson, both of Charlottesville; two foster grandchildren, Bette Bible and Kevin Buttner, both of Knoxville, Tennessee; one nephew, the Rev. Manson Paine Estes of Bridgewater and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Maupin. Mr. Maupin was owner and operator of Maupin's Taxi Service for 37 years- He was a World War II, U.S. Army Veteran, a graduate of Broadus Wood High School, a member of the Elks Club EP.O.E. #389 and Loyal Order of Moose #1028. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Hill and Wood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Willie Martin officiating. Interment will be in Holly Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad, 1W. Box 160, Charlottesville, Va. 22902, American Heart Association, 3025 Berkmar Drive, Charlottesville, Va. 22901 or the Charlottesville Senior Center, 2nd and Jefferson Streets, Charlottesville, Va. 22901, The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to S at the funeral home.
