Mrs. Mary Peachie Heywood Tinsley

Following a long illness, Mrs. Mary Peachie Heywood Tinsley departed this life Saturday, August 22, at the home of her sister, Mrs. A. H. Doty, in Newport News. She was the wife of Cheatwood Tinsley, of Portsmouth, and daughter of R. C. Heywood, of Gloucester county, and Mary Macon Cooke Heywood, of King and Queen.

Her early childhood was spent in Gloucester county and after her marriage to Mr. Tinsley, of Lynchburg, they made their home in Portsmouth until about five months before her death, when she went to her sister's home and died after a lingering illness of two and a half years, borne with Christian fortitude.

Funeral services were held from the home of Dr. Preston Blake and the remains were brought to Gloucester county to the old family burying ground, where she was laid to rest beside her dear mother. She leaves a devoted husband, two sisters and three brothers.

"She suffered in this world and died
To go to a sweeter world to live;
She had received her crown on high;
She had no sweeter life to give."

~ her niece, Louise V. Doty.
