AUTO VICTIM IS CHILD OF SIX
In one home in Tulsa no cheery, bustling preparations for Christmas are being made. The little daughter for whom the plans were to be carried out is no longer there to tell her daddy and mother what she expects from Santa, nor to whisper to one parent what is she going to get as a Christmas present for the other.
Little Deloris Smith, six-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Smith, 112 S. Phoenix av., died last night as a result of injuries suffered when a car driven by Mrs. Frank Johnson, 724 South Olympia av., ran over the child and crushed her. Despite heroic efforts on the part of physicians to save the little girl, she died at a local hospital within three hours after the accident.
Tulsa county's 31st death this year has left a mother and father, numbed with the pain of a dreadful, inconceivable loss, and also a woman through whose agency the accident occurred conscious of a life lost through no apparent fault of her own. Bystanders report - that the child, accompanied by other schoolmates, started to cross the street, saw the approaching car driven by Mrs. Johnson, hesitated, then darted directly in front of the machine. This is the first accident Mrs. Johnson, who is the wife of Frank Johnson, a Tulsa motorcycle officer, has ever had. She was not detained by the police.
The body will be taken to Gore, Ok., tomorrow for burial in the Gore cemetery. No funeral services will be held here.
[Daisy & her 2nd husband Lewis Greer were living under the alias of Smith at the time.]
