LAFE CONNERLEY
The funeral services of Lafe Connerley, postmaster of Rosedale, who died at 3 o'clock p.m., Thursday, July 6, were held Saturday afternoon at the Rosedale M. E. church, the pastor, Rev. C. B. Stanforth, conducting the service in the presence of a very large company. The burial at Doty cemetery was conducted by the K. of P. lodge, of which he was long a member.
Mr. Connerley was 58 years of age and died of cancer of the face from which he suffered for many months. For years he was marshall of Rosedale during which time he made an efficient officer and gained considerable reputation as a detective. He has been postmaster for about two years.
He is survived by one son, by his first wife, Harmon C., who is in the railway mail service; his second wife; aged mother; five brothers and two sisters.
Politically Lafe Connerley was a staunch Republican. A curious circumstance is that of the six brothers, three were Republicans and three Democrats. The read-headed boys were Republicans and the black-headed ones Democrats, the former following the political faith of their father and the latter that of their mother.
