"Adele was well known as one of the most glamorous stage actresses of her day. Not so well known on Broadway but toured extensively in the U.S. and the Orient. She introduced her daughter Dawn Hope to the stage in an ill fated attempt for a show that was abandoned less than a month later - Hope lost $40,000 on the venture. A week before her death she was reportedly in good spirits and living in an apartment in New York's upper east side, having formerly resided at the Savoy Plaza.

Hope committed suicide at her country home on the grounds of the exclusive Westchester (NY) Country Club on September 13, 1936. She died of a self-inflicted gun shot wound."

Adele shot herself while her daughter & friends were in another room in the house.

Dawn Hope Noel killed herself on July 18, 1939 after an argument with her husband.
