Rena Versil Jackson, longtime resident of Patriot, Ohio and for the past few years a resident of Holzer Senior Care in Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away due to complications of Alzheimer's on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the age of 88 years. She was a longtime member of Elizabeth Chapel.

Versil, as she was known to friends and relatives, was born on January 25, 1922 in Lawrence County, Ohio to parents Emmit Arrington and Della (Robinson) Arrington. She was the wife of William "Bill" Jackson who preceded her in death. Versil was a cook at Southwestern High School for approximately 25 years. Her love of pie baking was shared among everyone who had ever done anything for her. You could always count on Versil for a pie even if only in casual conversation, you had mentioned a favorite of yours. Soon your favorite would show up at your door or a phone call was made that she had something for you.

Among Versil's accomplishments, were the births of her three children, Loretta (Bill) Johnson of Gallipolis, Carol Hatfield, who preceded her in death and Roland "Bud" (Linda) Jackson of Westland, Michigan. She was the proud grandmother of 4 grandchildren, Rhonda (Russ) Neal of Gallipolis, Barry Hatfield of Indiana, Leah (Matt) Jeffers of Gallipolis and Angela (Michael) Irvine of Westland, Michigan. She will be greatly missed by her 3 great grandchildren: Mackenzie Newberry, Nathaniel Irvine and Christiaan Irvine. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Dolphus and Daniel Arrington, and 2 sisters, Mae Primm and Opal Robinson. She will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Interment will be in Jackson Family Cemetery on Mudsoc Flagsprings Rd. in Patriot, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, February 19, 2010 from 5-8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Jeffers, Merrill Baker, Darrell Baker, Robert Fellure, Russ Neal, and Michael Irvine. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Myers, Nolan Thornton and Norman Primm.
