Inscription: Killed in Aircraft Accident, December 5, 1972, 15 miles north of Conway, South Carolina.

Staff Sgt Mickley was one of 13 killed during a training exercise where a fighter plane was practicing intercepting a cargo plane.

A Convair F-102A Delta Dagger single-seat jet fighter (56-1517)collided with a Lockheed C-130E Hercules (64-0558). There were no survivors.
