On July 2, 1857 he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Buzard (Mary Elizabeth Buzard, daughter of James Hamilton Buzard and Mary Lawrence), who preceded him to the heavenly home just nine months. He confessed his faith in Christ and united with the M.E. church in 1877, from which time he has been an example of Christ-like simplicity, trust and piety, a living appeal to the unsaved to accept Christ. There are two of his family dead, and seven children, one brother and three sisters, Mrs. John S. Barr and Mrs. Gregg, of Brookville and Mrs. Keller, of Clarion, are left to mourn their loss. He was a kind and loving father and brother, and a good christian citizen.
