SOUTH BURLINGTON / NORTH HERO - Howard "Buddy" F. Brown, 92, died on February 15th 2010 in the Birchwood Terrace Health Care in Burlington, Vt.

"Buddy," as he was known by family and friends, was born on April 26th 1917 in Burlington, Vt., the son of the late Howard and Martha (Toner) Brown.

Howard graduated from Cathedral High School.

He proudly served in the United States Army, storming the Omaha Beach front during World War II.

He then went onto France and Italy for the remainder of his time served there.

He was a decorated veteran and received metals from France and the U.S. Army.

Buddy served his country with pride and bravery.

He was later married to Mary Haynes, who predeceased him in 1979.

Howard was employed at General Electric in Schenectady, N.Y. in the 1940's and 50's, Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Conn. in the 1960's, and the Burlington Housing Authority in Burlington in the 1970's and 80's.

After his marriage to Helena Hazen, he lived a rewarding life in North Hero.

He enjoyed the peace and tranquility in the island and was often seen fishing and gardening as gratifying pasttimes.

Howard is predeceased by three sisters, Mary, Martha and Kathryn.

Interment will follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington, Vt.
