WORLD WAR II, KOREA
Arthur M. Humphreys, age 84, of Pensacola, passed away Monday, February 15, 2010.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Sea Bee Corps, having served during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He retired with 35 years of service with the U. S. Civil Service. Arthur was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and for over four decades, was Pensacola Catholic High School's most vocal sports enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Catherine Leary Humphreys; seven children, Cathy Holsinger (Michael Bonsal), Geralyn LaPorte (Ace), Annette Carapellucci (Dan), Nancy Pursell (Brien), Arthur E. Humphreys, Mary Ann Bickerstaff (David), and Fred Humphreys (Kim); 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Catherine Gibson, Rita Saunders, Ruth Bailey, and Mary Lenz (Clifford); numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Memorial Mass will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church with Msgr. Michael Mooney officiating.
A reception will follow the Mass at the church from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Interment will be in Barrancas National Cemetery Thursday morning.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Holsinger, Ryan LaPorte, Patrick LaPorte, Carleton Leary, Ferrell Leary, and Jim Graydon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Leary, Neil Graydon and Bob Benz.
Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 100 Beverly Pkwy is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ARC Gateway-Pearl Nelson Center 3932 N. 10th Ave. Pensacola, FL 32503.
