FLORENCE - Kelly Paul Joyner, 84, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Presbyterian Home of Florence.
She was born Oct. 2, 1915, in Horry County, a daughter of the late Henry Oneal and Margaret Davis Paul.
She was the widow of Winston G. Joyner.
She had lived in Myrtle Beach since 1947. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, where she served for several years as an elder and was named in 1976 to Life Membership in Women of the Church.
She was a descendant of colonial governor Robert Daniel and Gen. Robert Conway and was a charter member of Horry County Historical Society and one of the first group of local history columnists for The Sun News.
She was a longtime member of Archibald Rutledge Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was named Trustee Emeritus of the S.C. Hall of Fame and was presented a plaque for her years of service. She was a graduate of Leadership Grand Strand.
Survivors include five sons, Charles Joyner and his wife, Jean Dusenbury Joyner of Myrtle Beach, John Joyner and his wife, Mary Willoughby Joyner of Myrtle Beach, Robert Joyner of Myrtle Beach, Paul B. Joyner of Conway, and David Joyner and his wife, Joanne Ferranti Joyner of Aynor; a daughter, Cherry Leslie and her husband, Jay of Carrollton, Texas; a sister, Bertha Paul Staley of Summerville; a brother-in-law, Ernest Harper of Bucksport; and 12 grandchildren, Hannah Joyner, Wesley Joyner, Paul B. Joyner Jr., Julia Joyner Hardy, Ralph Joyner, Kelly Joyner Sheely, Bob Joyner, Gray Meridith, Christopher Meridith, John David Meridith, Will Leslie, and Maggie Leslie; and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Goldfinch Funeral Home, beach chapel.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach. Burial will be in Ocean Woods Cemetery.
