Kitty was the daughter of Joseph S Patterson (b.1837, d.1892) and Lizzie Sedwick (b.1834, d.1917). Her father, Joseph, had his knee shattered during the Civil War.

Kitty married Andrew Richard Ellenberger I on June 12th, 1894. They had 3 boys and 2 girls. In the order of birth they were named: Vila Ethel, Quay Dean, Ford Wesley, Andrew Richard and Dorothy Bessie Ellenberger.

Comments by her grand daughter Anne Louise (Ellenberger) Hayashi in Aug 2011

"Kitty was indeed a beautiful lady when she was young. I understand that my grandfather and she were on a sleigh ride, the sleigh tipped over, and my grandfather fell on her. Evidently, it ruptured her gallbladder, and she died during the operation, where they found nothing but a stump left of it."

"I have also heard that when Kitty married Grandfather that she was disowned by her family, who was quite wealthy. I also remember hearing that her family then volunteered later to put the children through college, but were turned down."

After her death Andrew remarried and all 3 of these folks are resting together now in the Sherrett Cemetery.
