William Bleavins, the son of Jesse and Mary Jane Myers Bleavins was born and raised on the family farm near Belleville in Wood County, West Virginia. He married Temperance Anderson on February 28, 1895 at the residence of C. Anderson, in Wood County, who was a minister at the M. P. Church. Temperance had been previously married to Stanley Whipkey with whom she had a child, Nellie Saloma Whipkey.

William & Temperance had two children, Charles & Letha, in Wood County, WV, before removing to McLean County, IL between 1898-1900. They left Temperance's young daughter Nellie, with Samuel Freeman & Nancy A Whipkey.

William & Temperance settled on a farm in Empire Township, McLean County, Illinois.
