Mass of Christian Burial for Ivernia M. (Albo) Haupt, retired Spokane elementary and junior high school teacher, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, E1517 33rd. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery with Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home in charge.


Mrs. Haupt, 73, died Tuesday at Sacred Heart Medical Center.


Born in Rossland, British Columbia, she came to Spokane with her family in 1917. She attended the old Hillyard High School and graduated from Rogers High School in 1932. She received degrees from Holy Names College and Gonzaga University.


Mrs. Haupt began her teaching career at Colton and Almira, Wash., and joined Spokane School District 81 in 1945. She taught at Arlington Elementary School, Shaw Junior High School and Sacajawea Junior High School and retired in 1975 from Salk Junior High School.


She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.


Survivors include her husband, Lambert J.; three sons, Jerome Haupt, who is serving with the Armed Forces in Germany; Thomas Haupt of Spokane and Richard Haupt of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Catherine Doerr of Spokane; one sister, Gilberta Albo of Spokane; and five grandchildren.
