The son of Samuel Pierpont & Sarah (Welsh) Warfield of Anne Arundel Co MD, Samuel's wife is unknown at this time. If Samuel and his wife followed the naming practices of the time, his wife's father may be named Adam. Further research is ongoing.

Child of Samuel:
1) Adam Warfield (1778-1863); m. Margaret Catherine Thomas (1787-1856).

Excerpt from "Founders of Anne Arundel Co and Howard Co MD", by Professor Joshua Dorsey Warfield, Kohn & Pollock, Baltimore MD, 1905 - 'ALEXANDER WARFIELD OF BRANDY':
"Samuel, of Alexander, married Sarah Welsh, daughter of Captain John, by his first wife, Thomasin Hopkins, of Gerard. Issue, John, Samuel, Gerard, Vachel, Richard and Welsh Warfield. All except Samuel and Gerard remained in Anne Arundel Count. Samuel removed to Pennsylvania."

Excerpt from "Warfields of Maryland", by Prof Joshua Dorsey, Pg 100:
"Samuel and Jared Warfield, of Samuel and Sarah (Welsh) Warfield, removed to Redstone, Pa. From one of them likely descended Adam Warfield of Pennsylvania, who removed to Ohio and m- Margaret Thomas. He then removed to Rush Co., Indiana, where he died in 1863; issue- Henry, John, James, David, William, Elizabeth, Margaret, Lavinia, Susan and Kate. Henry of Adam died in 1884, leaving James, David, Margaret, Jane, Polly and Adam Thomas Warfield."

Jared Warfield, son of Samuel Pierpont & Sarah (Welsh) Warfield, and brother of Samuel, had a son named Jared Warfield who married Mary Penn in 1803 in Bourbon Co KY and removed to Jefferson Co IN in 1816. He is the first cousin of Adam Warfield (1778-1863). Jared and Mary had nine children: Ann, Catherine, John, Mary, Emeline, Delilah, Emily, James Riley & Joseph Penn. Jared's son's name, James Riley Warfield, is most likely the name of Adam's son as well: James R Warfield (1829-1894).

Samuel may have died during a small battle at Redstone Fort (aka Fort Burd) in Brownsville, Fayette Co PA. If so, he is buried in a mass grave at that location.

Samuel is my 4th maternal Gr-Grandfather through his probable son Adam Warfield (1778-1863).
