He was one of nine children born to Gilmer and Ella Quimby.

Paul and Mae had one child, Donavon Henise Quimby, born in 1929 in Shanghai. Paul is also survived by one brother, Harvey T. Quimby; eight nieces and nephews; and a number of grandnieces and grandnephews.
