In the early 1870's, Dr. Marvin Armstrong owned a drugstore in Coryell City, operated by his assistant, Sam Andrews. Information compiled by Sherry Lawrence, Coryell County Historian.

Dr. Marvin Armstrong, 76, a practicing physician in West Texas for more than 40 years and father of Dr. Frank Armstrong, Fort Worth died early today in a Fort Worth hospital. He was born in Coryell County, near Moffett.

He was brought to Fort Worth for treatment two weeks ago.

In 1896, he married Ida Hawkins of Lampasas. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Johnny Cox, of Merkel; a grandchild, Mary Jo Armstrong, Fort Worth; and two brothers, W.A. Armstrong of Dallas, and Ira Armstrong of Lubbock.

Funeral Services will be held tomorrow at 4 p.m in the Merkel Methodist Church where he had been a steward for 50 years. Burial will be at Merkel.
