Retired Farmer Dies at Merkel

Merkel, April 20 - (spl.) H. P. Allen, 68, died in his home here at 8:40 a.m. today. Confined to his home the past four months with heart trouble, he became critically ill 10 days ago.

Funereal services will be conducted from the First Baptist Church at 4 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Levi Price, pastor officiating, assisted by Rev. J. W. Saffle, retired Baptist minister.

Henry Pick Allen was born April 29, 1875 in Clark County, Ala, coming to Merkel in 1901. He was married Oct 9, 1898 to Della Watts in McLennon county near Wasco. Mr. Allen had been engaged in farming until he retired two years ago.

He is survived by his wife; two children, Pick Allen of San Angel and Mrs. Eura Kitchen of Abilene; four grandchildren, A. C. Bland, Jr. of Abilene, Jerry, Dale, and Nancy Allen all of San Angelo and four brothers, T. C. Allen of Merkel, U. H. Allen of Sweatwater, G. Z. Allem of Forth Worth.
Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Barrow-Sheppard funeral home.
