EDITH MAY WELLS
Edith May Wells, eldest daughter of A. E. and Louisa E. Wells, was born in Clarke county, Iowa, September 6, 1883 and departed this life September 14, 1928, at the Harken Hospital in Osceola, Iowa, at the age of 45 years and days.
Her entire life was spent in Clarke and Decatur counties. She was known and loved by a large circle of friends who admired her for her quiet and kind disposition. She was converted and united with the M. E. church of LeRoy about the year 1910. She has been a faithful attendant at church whenever she could. She will be missed in the society as a faithful servant and in the home for her faithful energies in the domestic affairs of life.
Her affliction was of such a nature that for the last five months she was failing fast and it was decided to operate to which she willingly consented. Everything was done that medical skill could do to relieve her but there came a time when human hands were helpless and Master said to the weary child, come home and the spirit wended its way to its immortal home.
She leaves to mourn her departure her father and mother, on brother, Pearl M. Wells, and one sister, Twyla H. Weidenhaft, both of Clarke county, Iowa; also two nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a faithful attendant and looked forward to each meeting with the view that she might be of some help to others. Her life was adorned with such Christian fortitude that it made for her friends a model Christian example. Her chief aim in life was service for the Master.
Funeral services were conducted from the M. E. church at LeRoy September 16 at 11 o'clock by the Rev. M. S. Clark of Chariton. Interment was made in the Last Chance cemetery. The bereaved have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.
