FUNERAL SERVICES FOR ALFRED WELLS
Funeral services for Alfred E. Wells, 88 years of age, where held from the M. E. church at LeRoy Saturday conducted by Rev. Miss Hutchins, pastor of the Friends church at Smyrna. Interment was made in the Last Chance cemetery.
Mr. Wells, who for more than 60 years, was a resident of Clarke and Decatur counties passed away at his home in LeRoy Thursday.
Alfred Elliott Wells, son of Marion and Maria Boor Wells, was born in Marion county, West Virginia, February 25, 1851 and passed away at his home in LeRoy, Iowa, April 6, 1939, aged 88 years, 1 month and 12 days.
He came to Clarke county, Iowa in 1875 and spent the remainder of his life in Clarke and Decatur counties.
He was united in marriage to Louisa E. Barger, Dec. 22, 1881, and to this union four children were born, two of whom are living, Pearl Wells and Twyla Weidenhaft, both of this community. Two daughters, Floy Hazel and Edith May preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, two children, three grandchildren, two sisters, one half-brother, other relatives and a host of friends.
He united with the Smyrna Methodist church about forty years ago and attended at LeRoy as long as his health permitted.
