The 1910 Census lists his birth place as Caldwell, Appanoose, Iowa. He was a farmer and active in local government.
On the 1880 Censes it shows the following Household members:
* Head of Household: David M. Monroe Age 45
* Wife: Catherine Monroe Age 42
* William D. Monroe Age 19
* Edgar Monroe Age 7
* Luther Berten or Albert Monroe Age 5 (Bert)
* Allie (Alice) Monroe Age 5
* Of note: Bert and Allie were twins.
On Page 12 it states that Bert was also one of the School Directors. The high school courses listed were very impressive compared to today's schooling.
Bert is my Paternal Grandfather (see David Byron Monroe).
The woman pictured below Bert is his mother Catherine S. Porter-Monroe.
We have no pictures of Lucy.
