Patricia Ann Cusack
Cusack, Patricia Ann - 79, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away Monday, February 1, 2010, while living at Bridgewood Rivers, a local assisted living facility. Patricia was born May 16, 1930, in West Haven, Connecticut, to Patrick and Nellie (Shea) Grady. Patricia graduated from St. Lawrence Grammar School and West Haven High School. Upon graduation, she began working at The New Haven Register, as a secretary for the newspaper's editor. It was here that she met Philip Cusack, who she married on September 9, 1950, in West Haven. She and her husband soon started a family and she gave birth to two sons, Philip Jr. and Michael. As a mother, Patricia took a very active role in the development and nurturing of her family. She and her husband regularly took their sons to the beach, athletic events, and on adventures throughout New England and Canada. Being an avid New York Mets fan, she often attended games at Shea Stadium.

After her sons finished elementary school, she returned to the workplace and eventually became a Supervisor for Sears, in Orange, Connecticut. It was here that she made many lifelong friends that have kept in close touch over the years. Following retirement, Patricia and her husband moved to Roseburg in 1987, where they spent the remainder of life close to their children and grandchildren.

Aside from being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Patricia enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing piano, writing, making crafts, and preparing wonderful meals for loved ones. She will also be remembered for her ready laugh and Irish wit.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Philip; her parents Patrick and Nellie Grady; brothers, John Grady and George Grady; and sisters, Mary Brennan and Helen Rohne.

Patricia is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Philip and Deborah Cusack of Winston, Oregon, and Michael and Karma Cusack, of Eagle, Idaho; her grandchildren, Caitlin, Chase, Danica, and Michael; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends from coast to coast.

The mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, February 5, 2010 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Celebrant was Father Mel Young. Internment followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, where she is buried next to her husband. Patricia lived a remarkable life, with much love, grace and humor. She will be missed on this earth. Slainte Mom! We will always love you.
