WINCHENDON — Marcus Sibley, 17, was found lying dead on the kitchen floor at his home in Waterville by his mother, Amasa Sibley, at 6.30 this morning.
The young man was fully dressed and from indications he expired after reaching home last night. After examination, Dr. P.S. Geddes said the young man had been dead several hours. He has been a student at Mnt. Hermon in Northfield and had been on vacation of several days, planning to return to school later this week.
He appeared to be in good health yesterday, leaving home in the afternoon to go sleigh-riding with friend Mardis Roberts of Waterville, a youth of about the same age.
Both hired sleighs at Town & McColley's stable on Central street, accompanied by Miss Lillian Raymond and Miss Minnie Butler, both of Winchendon. They drove to Gardner where they ate supper.
Leaving Gardner they went by way of Baldwinville, stopping to have some soda at a drug store before returning to Winchendon, the sleigh rigs returned by 8.30. Sibley then walked Miss Raymond to her home, and Roberts accompanied Miss Butler to her home.
Shortly after 6 this morning, Mrs. Sibley arose to make breakfast and was startled to find the body of her son lying on the kitchen floor, fully dressed with his overcoat on, as if he had just entered the house. One idea from the physician was that Sibley had suffered an acute indigestion, but examining doctors had yet to make a final decision.
