WELLSVILLE Charles Higgins, 82, of Campground Road, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at Heritage Valley Beaver Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.

He was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Smithfield, W.Va., a son of the late Richard L. and Rose Blanche Higgins.

He was retired as a crane operator in the axle mill at the former Crucible Steel Co.

Survivors include, his wife, Alice Wooley Higgins, at home; three daughters, Sheila Hoffman of East Liverpool, Karen Bott of Wellsville, and Flossie K. Miller of East Liverpool; a son, Charles Higgins Jr., of East Liverpool; a brother, Glen Higgins of Pine Grove, W.Va.; a sister, Flossie Higgins; a step-ister, Geraldine Dolak of Moundsville, W.Va.; two half-brothers, Ralph Higgins of Moundsville, W.Va., and Roger Higgins of Rayland, Ohio; and 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Higgins.

Rev. Tom Adkins of Campground Community Church is to conduct services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Dawson Funeral Home, where visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Burial is to be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
